Training and Equipping You for Service
Sarah Family Ministries is a Christian Ministerial Training Center with the vision of equipping the saints so that they may fulfill the ministry they have been given by the Lord. This vision is accomplished by offering an alternative process to traditional Bible seminary preparation for ministry.
Ministerial Training & Equipping Class
Entrance into Sarah Family Ministries begins by completing the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class. This 15-week
class is designed for growth in all phases of ministry and leadership no matter where each minister is on their path. This is
accomplished through teaching strong biblical principles and providing practical ministerial training. Classes focus on the
realities and responsibilities of ministry by examining the heart of the minister through topics such as character, commitment,
spiritual gifts and hearing God's voice. Instruction is provided to explore practical study and application of the Word of God
for sermon and teaching preparation. Opportunities for teaching, preaching, group leadership, and street outreach are also part of
this class.
Following the Ministerial Training and Equipping Class, candidates may continue their participation at SFM by attending Advanced Training Classes and Manna. Or candidates desiring credentialing may apply to the Ministerial Credentialing Class.
The Ministerial Training and Equipping Class is typically held on Monday nights from 6-9pm. Please check the Calendar for specific dates.
Candidates considering this class must be: Born again and Spirit-filled, 18 years of age or older. Candidates must attend Orientation and will be expected to attend all class sessions.
Advanced Training Classes
Sarah Family Ministers are on the front lines of ministry, studying, preaching, teaching, leading and giving
for the work of the ministry. Where can they go to be refreshed? Where do they go to be nourished in the
Word of God? They come to the Advanced Training Classes! The classes at SFM provide a wealth of biblical
teaching that continually strengthen ministers in their walk while also giving practical help for ministry growth.
Ministers receive training and support that encourages them as they continue in their ministry efforts.
Advanced Training Classes are typically four weeks in duration and are held on Tuesday or Thursday nights (6:30-9:00 pm) with occasional workshops on Saturdays. The Advanced Training classes currently offered at SFM are listed below. Please refer to the Calendar for specific dates of classes.
Israel - Journey Through the Word
This class will examine the Scriptures of Israel's journey - both the reality and purpose of Israel. We will
begin in the Old Testament/Tanackh for the first three weeks (Thursdays, September 11, 18 and 25). We will
continue on into the New Testament/Life of Christ and the Apostles, finishing up with the Book of Revelation
and New Life in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (The dates for the NT and Revelation portions of class will be
finalized as we finish up the OT section.)
This class will be taught by Minister Grace Broussard. Class will be in person and via Zoom on Thursdays, September 11, 18, and 25 (+ more) from 6:30-9:00pm. Zoom link will be given upon signing up for class.
Class Fee:$50/person; $75/married couple.
Deadline to sign up for class: September 9Pastoral Care for Grieving Families
The focus of this class is in understanding how best to minister to families in the death of their loved one
and to journey with them as they say good-bye. Our pastoral care might begin with hospital visits or with
death notifications. What do we say? What do we not say? How do we stay grounded to bring His presence
into the crisis? This class will provide clarity of various terms we might hear, whether medical or cultural -
palliative care, hospice care, memorial service or funeral, wake, repast - all of these have particular
meaning to the families and as ministers, we need to have a framework of understanding to best assist them.
How can we as ministers best come alongside the grieving families as they plan a service to memorialize their loved one? What is our role as minister? We will also talk about grief in its various displays to understand the emotions and reactions we may observe from loved ones. This journey of grief and loss will culminate in exploring the various types of services memorializing the loved one and special considerations the minister must have for each type of service.
We will also explore and journey through our own grief experiences and address any unresolved hurts or memories that might surface as we walk with others in their grief. Our hearts must be at peace with confronting our own grief before we can turn and help others with their grief.
This class will be taught by Pastor Carol. Class will be in person and via Zoom on Tuesdays, September 23, 30, and October 7 from 6:30-9:00pm. Zoom link will be given upon signing up for class.
Class Fee:$50/person; $75/married couple. Fee includes a Minister's Manual that will be purchased for your use.
Deadline to sign up for class: September 17
Prepare/Enrich Facilitator Training
If your ministry involves working with couples or you officiate wedding ceremonies and provide pre-marital
pastoral care, this facilitator workshop training is for you. Prepare/Enrich is a pre-marital and marriage
assessment tool that provides you, the facilitator, with tools to help couples identify relationship
strengths, to improve their communication skills, and gain understanding of their relationship dynamics.
As its name suggests, this assessment tool is an asset as you work with couples preparing for marriage, or for
couples looking to enrich and enhance their marriage relationship. Sometimes a fresh perspective that you bring
as a facilitator with Prepare/Enrich can provide the insight to encourage couples facing marriage challenges.
This workshop will be offered on Saturday, October 4 from 9am-2pm. The registration fee is $90 which includes training materials from Prepare/Enrich and also a light lunch. Pastor Carol will facilitate this workshop.
Deadline to sign up for class: September 17.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped
for every good work.
Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV84
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service,
so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of
the fullness of Christ.
